Hello!
Hi! My name is Elisabeth.
I’m a secular occultist, an indie romance author, an indie game developer, and a theoretical computer scientist (in no particular order).
I use this web page both as my calling card and my grimoire. Please note this non-exhaustive list of things I’m interested in, in no particular order:
Philosophy of Language, Linguistics and Grammar, Indie Games and Indie Game Development, Godot, Visual Novels, Ren’Py, Theoretical Computer Science, Theorem Proving, Type Theory, Parsers, Functional Programming, Haskell, Scala, Lean, Teaching Abstract Formalisms, Studying Latin, Secular Occultism, Tarot, The Locked Tomb, The Imperial Radch, Fiction Writing, Self Publishing, Knitting and Crocheting, Sustainable Fashion, Video Essays About Almost Anything, 12-Tone Music.
FAQ
Why Tarot?
I am inclined to view self-reflection as a creative process, and Tarot is my favourite tool for that purpose.
In a Tarot deck, there’s 78 different cards that can be arranged into different spreads in unfathomably many different combinations, akin to arranging words in a language. And much like the languages of art or mathematics, the Tarot can express ideas that aren’t easily expressed into words.
Can you actually tell the future?
Jein; a Tarot reading will only ever divine the future in the sense that it can change your state of mind, which influences your actions, which can then in turn influence the future to be more in line with the one that was foretold.
Unfortunately, that means I can’t use the Tarot to predict the weather or the stock market.
Do you actually believe in any of that occult nonsense?
I choose to suspend my disbelief when it serves me.
